Smart Brand Search

Find brands instantly with intelligent search that handles typos, aliases, and abbreviations.

1

How Brand Search Works

FairClose uses a multi-tier scoring system to find brands. When you type in the brand selector or directory search, results are ranked by match quality: exact matches first, then prefix matches, partial matches, alias matches, and finally fuzzy matches for typos.

2

Typo Tolerance

Made a typo? No problem. The search engine uses edit-distance matching to find brands even with 1-2 character errors. For example, "Gucii" finds Gucci, "Rlex" finds Rolex, and "Balenziaga" finds Balenciaga.

3

Alias Matching

Many brands are known by multiple names. Our alias system maps common abbreviations and alternative spellings to the canonical brand. For example, searching "LV" can help find Louis Vuitton, and "Tiffany" finds "Tiffany & Co."

4

Category-Aware Suggestions

When creating a listing, the brand autocomplete considers your selected category to prioritize relevant brands. Listing a watch? Watch brands appear first. Listing sneakers? Sneaker brands are prioritized.

5

Adding New Brands

If your brand isn't found, you can type the full name and select "Add as new brand." New brands enter a review queue and will be verified by our curation team. Your listing is not delayed β€” it publishes immediately with the brand name you entered.
